This in-ground shelter is 6 'x 8' and the ceiling height is 6'2"
tall inside. The shelter is constructed of 6000 psi concrete. For
reinforcement, 3/8" rebar is tied on 12" centers running both
directions. This shelter has a 12" turbine for ventilation. On the inside
we have installed a metal deflection plate to keep flying objects from entering
the shelter through the turbine. It has a primed 14 ga. steel door that
measures 32" wide x 36" tall. It has three heavy duty hinges and a
three point latch with a single handle inside for ease of locking. The door has
a gas operated support cylinder that makes it easy to open. The shelter has a
fixed staircase that bolts to the shelter for security. It has dual handrails
and the steps have nonskid protection for added traction. This unit is
installed 53" below grade (in the Ground) with approximately 2' remaining
above the ground. The dirt from the excavation hole is mounded around three
sides of the above grade portion of the shelter surrounding it with earth for
your safety. This shelter is FEMA approved.

to walk in and descend one step down for ease of entry. This shelter measures

ease of locking. If this shelter is placed on flat ground, (It must have dirt
placed around three sides and all the way to the top to be FEMA approved). If
available you can place this shelter in a hillside or a mound. THIS SHELTER IS
ABOVE GROUND ONLY.
